Due to a major wildfire at Planja, the road to Mangart is closed and public transport to the Mangart Saddle is suspended. Visitors are advised to avoid the area until further notice.
Road to Mangart closed due to wildfire
A major wildfire is being tackled in the Planja area near the Mangart Saddle. Due to the emergency response and safety measures, the road to Mangart is closed until further notice.
Visitors are strongly advised not to travel towards Mangart or the Mangart Saddle area, including on foot, by bicycle or independently.
Until further notice, the Hop-on Hop-off service and the electric van service to the Mangart Saddle are also suspended.
The wildfire is being tackled by several fire brigades and aerial firefighting units. The terrain is steep, rocky and extremely difficult to access. Visitors are therefore asked to stay away from the area and follow all instructions issued by the police, firefighters and other emergency services.
Please choose another destination and allow the emergency teams to carry out their work safely and without obstruction.
